Microsoft vs. US Immigration laws

Posted by admin on July 6th, 2007 filed in Offtopic

Microsoft is opening a research centre in Vancouver to get around the strict immigration rules imposed in the US.

The software developer said that it is having problems recruiting foreign experts to its US operations because they are not being granted work permits.

I have experienced the US immigration disaster on my own, but if a company like Microsoft cannot get H1 Visas, then we have a problem.

Also Microsoft is not the first case. The WSJ reported the problems of US Immigration for startups in San Fransisco.

I hope this is a big wake up call for Washington! The US economy cannot afford to loose one of it’s biggest advantages.

The immigration laws are indeed due for a change in the US. And good for Microsoft in expanding their operations outside of the US to meet their human resource needs.
