I think it’s hilarious how a lot of people still give a lot about Google’s Pagerank. I work on SEO myself for a bunch of years now, but never really cared for this blog and surprise surprise…it’s now a beautiful Pagerank 7, which pretty much beats 99.9% of the websites out there.
But it’s not only that I don’t really care, I find it quite amusing how people started spamming the “incredible valuable webanalyticsbook” blog with comments, advertising inquiries, link exchanges and guest author requests.
Probably webanalyticsbook received more flattering emails than vicepresident hockey-mom Sarah Palin after her extremely smart bullterrier speech.
Anyways….since this blog is suddenly so “great” and “highly appreciated”, I decided to go on the Pagerank 8 mission. Seriously!

The PRs of my sites are still fluctuating; one day it’s 2 and the next day it’s 4, only to return to 2 the day after that.
Question: How does somebody get a PR of 4 on a 2 month old site? There was a thread on a forum where there were multiple examples of such a case.

PR has always been frustrating to say the least. I have a competitor that is cyber-squatting and his page rank is 3 and the official site only has a 2.

Sad to see the amount of real spam in the comments since this should be a constructive discussion on Google page rank.
Tools like Google Page Rank are nice tools to gain some insight. However your main focus should be the people visiting your site. Give them the content they are looking for in a structured way will help a lot in getting results.

I for one am concerned about my PR. I am a Real Estate Agent, and I have a faily busy site, but I can’t get past PR3.
I work alot on my site, am still learning, but know enough to sound like I know what I am talking about. Any way, when I run a W3c check, it shows 550 errors. I called my web site people, and they told me that the errors, which by the way is their coding errors, would not affect my SEO. I ran a check on other POINT2AGENTS sites on Activerain, and not even the busiest site in Canada, was more than a PR3. Is someone their pulling my leg or what? I also think that google is not giving backlink credit, because it more or less, ignore sites with so many errors…HELP

I came across various sites mentioning YSE returns BLs in the order of significance, ie the most important BL at the top.
From my observation however, I’ve seen some sites with the top few BLs of PR0, with some other higher PR5, 4, etc further down. In addition, some other sites that has the Yahoo Directory link has some other seemingly less authoritative BLs listed higher then the Y! BL.
I wonder if this claim is valid, greatly appreciate some enlightening here. Thanks!

I have an online shopping website with a zero page rank. I have about 112 back links with various PR. I am in the Yahoo directory, google and Pricegrabber and hundred of directories.
I am also in myspace, face book, Asian social networks. I have written several articles on go article, enzine and others. I just started writing a couple of blogs.
I just started using qassia and get links as soon as they are published. my question is what am i doing wrong? My site has been active for 2 months now. Oh and I index my site with google twice a month at a minimum

Curious but the gray bar syndrome is strinking lots of sites now. How can you know accuratelly the PR in 70% of the cases? ‘Current page is not ranked by Google’, 2 weeks later you get back your PR 2 or 3 and 3 months later is vanish. I think that this problem with the toolbar is not a bug, it’s a deliberate policy from Google.
