Mobile Internet Marketing Conference

Today took the Internet Marketing Conference in the Penn Hotel place. It was honestly a little weird event for me: A lot of top speakers, but the hotel did not offer any WiFi and for Internet addicts Web Workers like me, this is a little bit of a pain. Especially when the Blackberry starts crashing at the same time.

Anyways…enough complaints. The sessions were pretty good. A lot of innovation from different companies. A lot of presenters were from Sweden and besides their typical Scandinavian coldness ( After receiving and email I am adding this Disclaimer: This is not a racist statement. I am German and I am as cold as a German can be. My humor is also really cold…., but seriously who cares?.) , there products were pretty cool.

Here a few companies that I really liked:

Alan, the CEO from Blogtalkradio showed his interesting site that took off over the past year, but did not get too much coverage. Blogtalkradio is a social network around radio. It let’s you record all your conversations or just interviews and publish them on the web. Currently there are 90 shows and more than 3 Million listeners per month.

Squace, a free mobile web application that lets you surf the web without typing. It looked pretty cook, but I haven’t tested it yet. So…no more comments on that.

Next speaker was Ola, VP or marketing for TAT. Ola really had a great presentation and gave some outlook on what’s next in mobile: Haptic output by 2009. Natural Output / Morphing devices by 20220 (Intelligent). Very Interesting ideas and a Powerpoint to remember.

One of my favorite apps out there, was an app called MizPee. MizPee finds the closest, cleanest toilets in your area. You can add and review toilets, get some cool deals in your area and challenge your knowledge of toilet trivial.

An application that is incredible useful. Especially in cities like New York, where Starbucks sells one Latte per 23 toilet flushes.

    Hi Sebastian,

    Yes was both good and bad conference, I enjoyed speaking on the panel in the afternoon about Mobile Analytics and answering questions about the product offering that Amethon has for mobile content providers but I also really enjoyed Ethan Dreilinger’s talk on what CBS News was doing to ‘mobilise’ their content. Ethan was definately the speaker of the day.

    BTW I downloaded Squace, was interesting but wondering how the content providers feel about their content being wholesale repurposed with none of the advertising / credit being passed back to them?

    Although the conference sounds pretty interesting, I am more interested in learning how this technology can be useful in marketing one’s business or is there such a thing.

    I am always looking for innovative, reasonably priced methods in which to enhance marketing. Marketing, whether it be online or offline, can be challenging to most folks, especially those who are new to the arena of owning a business.

    Learning how to market was one of the challenges I had to overcome prior to joining my current business opportunity. I always thought the products and services I had to offer were great, but no one cared because I was not able to get my products or services in front of enough people who would either buy or become a participant in my business.

    I agree, WiFi is pretty much standard in most places. We had some issues with that hotel. So did our friends who hosted events there earlier that week.

    I also agree that Ethan did a great job ending the conference.

    I have a dongle (lucky me). I plug it into my laptop and get 3G internet here in the UK, in most towns and cities. Where 3G isn’t available, I can usually get 2G unless you’re out in the middle of nowhere without even a mobile phone (sorry, cell) signal. Whilst the cost is reasonable here in the UK (£10 / month for 1GB data transfer) it costs a fortune if you go abroad. For example, if I were to use it in France, it would cost £6 / Mb. Do you have similar connectivity in the US?

    I agree with Lawren Smith. Knowing new innovative and affordable devices for internet marketing is great. Its helpful for my company and my personal websites
