"Yahoo! currently intends to provide the IndexTools Web Analytics service FREE of charge to clients and partners who accept the standard Yahoo! agreement." Dennis, head of Yahoo Analytics, mentioned it on his blog and said that " IndexTools [is] essentially 80% of the functionality of Omniture for a fraction of the cost – have to get used to the NEW NEW; 80% of the functionality of Omniture for FREE! ;-) he he.."
Pretty bold move from Yahoo! / Indextools today. You can call this a major industry shakeup or just a smart PR stunt by Yahoo. I don't have much experience with Indextools, so I want to leave this kind of uncommented.
I am not sure how this will effect other top vendors, but Omniture's stock price seems to be pretty unimpressed (so far):
